Dedicates goals to son
Super Eagles winger Victor Moses has told Complete Sports that more is to come from him after scoring a brace in the 6-1 victory over the Lone Star of Liberia in Saturday’s 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
The Chelsea forward described the victory as a dream come through in his football career and said Nigeria deserve to be at the South Africa party while promising more goals for the national team.
“It was a big result and I am happy to be part of the team," he said. "I am happy that we have made it to the Nations Cup. Winning 6-1 was made possible through hard work and we must thank Nigerians for their support as well.
“It has been my dream to play at the Nations Cup and now that we have qualified, I can say I am happy and it is a dream come through. I will continue to play Nigeria because it is my country and I love the people of Nigeria so much."
Moses admitted the Liberians were no easy team but the Super Eagles were more determined to make the Nations Cup ticket a reality and they went for it.
“I will not say Liberia has a weak team, they have good players and you can see with the way they played but we were more determined to win the match and qualify for the Nations Cup, it was the last opportunity we had to be in South Africa and we tried to make good use of it."
The dark complexioned forward also told Complete Sports that he will be available to be part of the country’s team to South Africa next year.
“Yes, definitely I will be available for the Nations Cup, my team already knows that we have qualified for the Nations Cup and they will be willing to support us."
Meanwhile Moses has dedicated the two goals scored against Liberia to his son, saying the new-born baby is his major inspiration.
“I thank God first for helping me to score two goals and I will like to dedicate the goals to my son who has been a major inspiration to me since he arrived,” says Moses
“The last time we played, we were not happy with the result but now everybody can celebrate because it is a good result for us."
Also on the score sheet in the 6-1 result for the Super Eagles were Ambrose Efe, Ahmed Musa, Mikel Obi and Ike Uche
