Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has declared his intention to be at next year's Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles at the expense of boastful Liberia.
Speaking in Abuja on his way to Calabar to join the Super Eagles for the Nations Cup qualifier against Liberia on Saturday, Mikel stated that he does not see how the Lone Star will stop his dream of being in South Africa next year.
"I learnt that the Lone Star are a difficult side and they really gave us a tough time in the first leg in Monrovia but we have to make sure we beat them here to book our ticket to South Africa.
"We have to qualify first before we start thinking of winning the trophy in South Africa," he said. "But the reality is that I would love to be in South Africa and I don't see Liberia stopping us. I love to win with the Eagles so we shall go all out to beat Liberia."
On his lack of goals in his seven years in the English Premier League Mikel said he was not worried about individual glory, adding that the team's success is paramount for him and Chelsea have done very well these past few years.
"Why should I be worried if my team is playing well and scoring goals. All of us cannot score goals because they need some to set up goals and to stop goals. My goal will come, maybe sooner than expected
"I am enjoying my game. I love my career and I am happy at Chelsea and laurels are tumbling in. It is Blues for life." he concluded.
