Spanish Liga side, Levante are regretting the N603 Million (€3 million) buy out clause fee on Nigeria striker, Obafemi Martins.
The former Inter Milan and Newcastle striker has started his career in Levante in blistering form, scoring crucial goals to hand the moderate side unexpected victories. Now, Levante are wishing that they had set the price higher.
Levante's director of football, Manolo Salvador, is the magic man, who finds derelict talents on the cheap, and sells them off at high prices. In the past it was Felipe Caicedo and Arouna Kone; now Obafemi Martins.
The 225 minutes he has played so far have been more than enough to win the hearts of Levante fans. In that time,'Oba Oba' has scored two goals, which have earnt Levante six points. The first of them sealed the fight-back against Real Sociedad, while the second finished off Valencia, with all that means for the Levante supporters. The city now has a new idol.
Martins looks very good. From a sporting viewpoint he displays the same qualities as his predecessors, if not better.
Martins had agreed to forgo a large part of the remaining year of his contract with Rubin Kazan, and the only condition he set was to be in charge of his own future, and that was why his buy out clause was low.
