ENYEAMA: I WILL SHUT OUT LIBERIA

Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has promised to work hard with his team mates to stop the Liberians from scoring any goal in their Nations Cup qualifying clash on Saturday in Calabar.

Enyeama, whose position as the Eagles’ number one goal tender is threatened after a poor outing in the first leg in Monrovia, is optimistic of keeping a clean sheet this time around if the coaches give him the nod to start.

According to the Maccabi Tel Aviv safe hands, what happened in Monrovia was just one of those rare days when things do not work to plan, adding that he would try to make it up by shutting the Lone Star out.

"Calabar stadium has been a lucky ground for us and I don't see that luck running out on us just yet. Liberia will come fighting but no matter how hard they try they will fall on Saturday,” he told Complete Sports.

"The Super Eagles cannot afford to miss the Nations Cup for the second consecutive time so we are going to give the match all it takes to ensure that we win very well and qualify for South Africa.

‘The spirit is high in camp and all the players are raring to go and with this optimism, I dare say that Liberia are in for a thrashing.

We shall not underrate them.  To be frank with you, we shall play the match as if our lives depended on it."

The former Enyimba goalkeeper however urged Nigerians to pray for the Eagles to play well and win on Saturday. Enyeama faces a mighty battle for who will man the Super Eagles goal from Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim
