Super Falcons coach Kadiri Ikhana has expressed optimism that the team will retain the African Women’s Championship in Equatorial Guinea.
The former Enyimba FC of Aba coach said his optimism stemmed from the response of the girls to training and how they have fared in some friendly matches they played against male opponents.
Ikhana who is expecting all his invited overseas-based players to report to camp not later than October 18 said that the girls are in top shape for the championship.
“We have played against a male Under-21 side and lost 4-2 but defeated another male side All Stars 5-1 even without the foreign-based players. There are positive signs that we can only get better.
“We are going to the Equatorial Guinea to retain the trophy won in South Africa in 2012 anything short of that is not acceptable,” he said.
